Tui Na FAQs

What is Tui Na?

Tui Na is a type of massage that involves the physical manipulation of soft tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments), to achieve two major effects.

First, it increases blood and lymph circulation. This basically pushes the old, damaged cells out and brings fresh, new cells in. Increased circulation can significantly speed healing to an area that has been injured.

Second, it can cause the relaxation and normalization of the soft tissues which releases nerves and deeper connective tissues which ultimately affects the flow of Qi through the channels. When there is an injury the tightened soft tissues squeeze on vessels and nerves which in turn causes the pain associated with that injury. Once those tissues are relaxed the vessels and nerves are freed, relieving the pain and returning the balance to the flow of Qi.
